Handwood carved sea creatures February 22, 2008
I saw this on the Carol Duvall Show the other day.
The artist, “David Wirth taught himself to carve one summer when he couldn’t afford his favorite pastime–fishing. He pulled out his filet knife and a block of wood and whittled himself a fish. Since then, he’s been carving all kinds of fish for all kinds of commissions; he’s even in the World Fishing Hall of Fame in Florida. One of his smaller and more exquisite pieces is the seahorse, carved from extremely hardwood.
This is stunnning. Love it. He is so talented.
David DeVries February 3, 2008
Dave was one of my teachers at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He was a great teacher, and a very creative person. His art is phenominal. Check out his work…TheMonsterEngine. What I love most was his series of monster paintings. He took drawings made by children and turned them into these crazy looking paintings.
